Original Thread: A Case for Nationality

Does anyone strongly feel that a person who wasnt born in that country should not hold a strong post in the adopted country?

Take the case of Soniaji, do you think she deserves to hold the prime ministerial post of the country?

Please elaborate ...tell me if you are FOR or AGAINST...why?

I think that there is not difference whether a person born in a country rules , or someone from another country , and who adopted the nationality of the country rules. provided the person have lived long enough in the country to know the political system, and when it comes to running the nation .... as long as the nation is doing good, dosen't really matter who rules.

yea i agree with wing!

I don't feel strongly at all. Anyone who has brains should rule. Unfortunately, those who have brains prefer not to rule... that's why they have brains. [:D] And that's why I don't feel too strongly who's ruling.

I guess soniaji has brains .... she decided to "not rule"

If a person can become an MP, then, why not PM? It is democracy, eh?

[8D]i agree with wing too,as long as that person is a good leader and can lead this country in an efficient manner i dont think there should b any kind of discriminations even if a foreigner rules over us!!![:)>-]

Mrs. Gandhi is as 'phoren' as we are. 'We' all hold Indian passport. I guess the 'foreigner' issue is a non-starter. It is the ranting of sum 1 who defied all polls (exit??) and lost a 'sure win' election. The exit could have been more graceful?? fulfilling the saying ' Man proposes but God deposes??'

We're more Indian than she is! [:D] We're born here. But legally, there's no "more" or "less" Indian... there's only Indian or not. As they say in binary, the constitution recognizes only 10 types of people, citizens and non-citizens.

Keith
I STAND CORRECTED. WE ARE MORE INDIAN

I do not think Indian Citizenship or passport holds much value anywhere in the world. For instance, during my trip to HK the officer incharge at the airport was left pondering how we were holding indian passports and to a certain degree there is so much discrimination there that there was two lines for ppl holding different passports, how humiliating??? Well thats another issue altogether!! Coming back to my point, she sacrificed so much that atleast she shouldnt be questioned abt her nationality and if such a rule prevailed then one must adhere by the rules. I wonder how she has decided to sacrifice her foreign nationality and get caught in this jugalbandi?? Bravo..Kudos!! Soniaji!! [bow]

Yea I would understand why you guys will support Soniaji. But if you would for one moment, be the local indians, you wouldn't want a foreigner race be the PM of your country.
