| Any WWII movies like Saving Pvt Ryan, Bridge on the River Kwai, Guns of Navaron, etc
True and non bull-****.
I would really recommend you guys to watch 'DAS BOOT', old movie directed by Woolfgang Peterson, one of rare movies you can see WWII fought from the Germans perspective. You see a movie based on it's story and not to root for any side (allies)
Fight-Club, Contact, Shawshank Redemption are good ones too.

| Of course! How could I forget Das Boot? Totally intense.
And WW2 stories are not always true. [:D] For example, in U-571, they claim the Americans captured a U-boat and got their Enigma encoding machine. Wonder what the British thought of that movie? [=))]
Other movies...
5. Jaws - everything's great, but Robert Shaw stands out. [=D>]
4. Aakhri Rasta - shattering tragedy, and ONLY ONE SONG in the entire movie! [=D>] [=D>] [=D>] And that too, relevant to the story line, instead of simply dancing around trees [V].
3. I would put Das Boot here.
2. Zhang Yimou's Wo de mu jin fu jin (English: The Road Home). Movie without a story. How do you think any other director could handle that? [xx(] Zhang does... [bow] [bow] [bow] Man, what a director!
And finally...
1. What should I put here? Gone With the Wind, I guess. Another shattering tragedy. They don't make 'em more pessimistic than this. [:)>-] |

| Jaws? heard it is a classic but I never liked it, seemed dumb to me.
Ah, forgot to mention ALL Pixar animations, all are superb with a sense of humour. I like humour that is played on words.

| i ahve seen 2001 space odyyseyu.....tell u da truth....i didnt understnad it...even tho i am a film studies student.... read something abt charlie chaplin n see it movies....chaplin is not all abt fallin n lookin dumb to make u laugh....
casablance....north by northwest is good..so is psycho.... ala hitchcock
see some eisenstein movies...b/w silent... his thoeries n movies led to music videos[bow]...n its style...
citizen kane....whole holly wood is based on dat....its narrative style
company.......da hindi movie...for its style...nothin like wot bollywood aspires for...its was a refreshin change....n it clicked actually....
i liek all da movies stated above,,,but wot leaves me wit nostalgia is critical movies....american beauty.....lagaan..... guess its 3 yrs of studyin films has had it effects!!! |

2. Castaway: Important lessons learnt- not to take things for granted and move on with life!
3. Enter the dragon: boy it was a sensation. made ALL Chinese looked fearsome.
4. Sholay: forget the songs, but Amjad Khan was brilliant. They don't make Hindi films like this anymore.
5. The Mask: One reason only- Jim Carrey!!!! |

| oh yes, "Scene of a woman" is very good movie.
I often repeat some of the dialogue from there. Something like "My favourite are girls and a very distant second is a Ferari" "What lies between those two pillars is passport to heaven"
I believe it isn't Jack Nicholson but Al Pacino starred.

| i agree with the mask...the saint was a nice movie....i like sweet november too starring keanu reeves and charlize theron....another movie is i am sam......i was watching it in my uni's bibliotheque with my friend, and we were crying our eyes out.....later when we went to return the dvd......the person-in-charge asked us what happened....cause our eyes and nose were red....lol...[8)][:D] |

| K-19:The Widow-maker is such a brilliant movie... couldn't find any lapse in the story, the critics are comparing it with Das Boot, only this time the story is told from a Russian perspective. No Americans in this movie. Just Awesome.
