What is the best food you like ?
While I was in Taiwan, didn't like anything.
Except chicken-cutlet and Napoli's fried chicken, their's 199NTD meal for two is worth it. And not to forget McDonalds french-fries dipped in mom's made chily sauce.
The taiwan snacks which they sell in night market, the ones which chingobabe uploaded, is total tasteless. Everything dipped in the same BBQ sauce and roasted. |

| Yes, Teppanyaki is good.
Yes, Taiwan 'fire-iron' momos are good too.
My tips: Get a bottle of Vodka, orange juice, hakka chili sauce and go to those momo's house. Enjoy your friday night.
And Tun-Hua night market Teppanyaki is good too.
Is 130NTD too expensive ? hmm. There are 100NTD student meals too but not as good as the 130NTD. Get what you pay.
and you can ask the chef to add as-much-as-you-like chilies.

| Teppanyaki! [^][^] That¡¯s right! Very expensive indeed, I don¡¯t recall seeing this kind of restaurant around the night markets. I thought these styles of restaurant are very high-end catered to business clientele? For three people our check was over two hundred US dollars, we had only few glasses of wine and beers. I remembered the restaurant I went was posh and fancy. The staffs and service was excellent for the price one has to pay, therefore worthy and justify, Can¡¯t help but noticed that most of the customers are well to do people too; with these kinds of places one can also noticed many nice cars and limo parked outside with chauffeurs. And my host also happens to be one of them. Not my average cup of tea though.
My fav in Taiwan is; Taiwanese style pot stickers and hot and sour soup, the potsticker very delicious when dip with soy sauce, vinegar and hot pepper sauce [^][^] real spicy and hot, also the hot and sour soup one can just sweats and sweats like a pig who needs sauna after that [:O] much like tumyungkung the Thai version.

| Looking at the way the Taiwanese prepare their food, I'd say it's a waste...pure waste...of the ingredients and condiments. Taiwan is blessed with a wide variety of seafood and vegetables, not to mentioned the influence of other culinary cultures like Japan, etc., But the folks here are "tasteless" when it comes to cooking.
I often describe Taiwanese cooking as "boiling water". Why? Coz they boil almost everything and those that are not boiled, they add water to them!
Raw octopusses and squids- for example- my mom would stir fry them to the exact tenderness and rubberlike texture (the quality control concept that is second nature to IBC women is impeccable). But you know what? The Taiwanes here BOIL them!!![:((] Woo Loong noodles. The ones that are thicker than the normal noodles. Imagine the taste if woo loong noodles are used for Calcutta style chowmein or even yaam mein. [^][^]. The Taiwanes do fry them all right, but unfortunately, to make sure you won't get dehydrated, they add half a litre of water to the chowmein. [:((]
Curry? They add cornflour and make it so thick that you can even use it to stick papers, plus you find UFOs (unidentifed floating objects) that turned out to be carrots and as mentioned by ppl above, apples!
My fav food here is food cooked at home - my style. No wonder IBC students gain weight like raisins soaked in water, we used to survive on junk food.
PS: Watch some of the programs where self styled chefs teach cooking to understand better what I mean.
