First of all the 6% tax you pay here and the 43% tax you pay in Canada for the "high income group" makes the MOST diffrence. Secondly, here you get what you work for if you are willing to work smarter. While in Canada what chance do you stand against the Saadas.. Here from Taipei to Pingtung you are treated EQUALLY as the locals and in many ways you even surpass the locals if you can "blend" into their society and know the loopholes . . .

Keith
I believe for personal income in Taiwan, the top tax rate is 40% not 6%. I want to hear about your experience too. [[-o<]

You only quote about the Canadian high taxation. That's all? The high taxes you pay in Canada doesn't go into any govt minister's pockets. It is for your future pension and health benefits, it is for YOU and your near ones, correct me if I am wrong. Before it turns into a topic about high taxes, let's talk about the opportunities in Taiwan. [:)] What opportunities do you get in Taiwan that you don't get in Canada? Besides the racial prejudice that you cited above. I believe there are a lot of Honkies doing well in Canada.

How long have you been living here ? The highest is just 20% that too paid by ALIEN Workers. Locals are 6% and that too lots of loopholes and rebates if you KNOW how to use them What opportunities do you get in Taiwan that you don't get in Canada? Besides the racial prejudice that you cited above. I believe there are a lot of Honkies doing well in Canada. How many " yellow skins " do you see holding high positions in the Big Corporations in the West ? Why was it "Carly Fiorina" and not some " Ching Chong Lee " ?? As regards the Honkies, they took the cash from HK to Canada. Besides, they are all clustered in Chinatown only which looks like any other Hong Kong Street ( eg. Tai Koo Sing in HK )when you come out for a walk. You don't feel you are in CANADA. Try throwing an Indian inside Pacific Mall, he'll be lucky if he can come out in one piece !! Honkies opened restaurants and if you are lucky you get employment there but one fine day in the future his nephew lands up from HK and you Indian get the boot because he wants to keep his own relative. But, here in the Far East, WE Indiawalas are the ones booting the locals out of their positions because we surpass them in many ways due to our good education system and foundation we amassed back there. Just look in Singapore's Seagate and Western Digital firms, How many Indiawaalas are the GM and Presidents there, Roger ? So, one doesn't know how hot the water is till he has dipped his hands into it !!! What about yourself ? Would you prefer to settle in Singapore, China or go West ? . .

This topic is about Jackal sharing his experience of keeping an offshore account in Cayman Island while staying in the Far East. Please correct me, if I am msitaken. We are yet to hear taht. Instead he is showing his one-upmanship about Tax rate in Taiwan and asked me how long I am been in Taiwan? I would like to ask him how well does he know Taiwan? Just to make a point. I attcahed the Tax rate scanned from the Official Gazette of Republic of China. The 20% Tax rate is for those foreigners who stay in Taiwan for less than 183 days. Jackal makes a lot of claims but offer no proof. I would like to see a ROC Govt. notification that tax is at 6% for all ROC citizens.

No one feel proud or pleased in paying tax, just trying to make a point[:)]

Keith
One should take pride in paying taxes. Government survives on taxes. Paying taxes is nation building / maintaining exercise.

That was in the 20th Century. Now cheap goods are from China, Taiwanese factories have mostly relocated to China. Hence, the question, how / where The fat legal purse will come from? Factories moving to China is no propaganda. It has been splashed all over Taiwanese newspapaer. I have seen them going there. In fact, I have followed them to China.

India's still a good market because our manufacturing is not up to scratch. [L-)] Things from China or even Singapore are much cheaper and less hassle-free to procure than if you manufactured them in India. So if you find a good Indian agent, you can get good sales for almost anything. The problem is, of course, to find a trustworthy person. [:(!] You want to offer me something cheap to sell in India?
