What you think about the C.P.?
Don't associate the real C.P with the traffic wardens who torment you with bribe, bribe is bribe, accept it.
I think the C.P. seargent is a lot fearful and handsome than a S'pore or Taiwan or H.K. police. Taiwan seargent might have impressive BMW bike but the sheer size of the bike might crush that poor little chap. For god-sake, don't recruit a under 70Kg police seargent.
Even when compared with bombay police, C.P. are smarter, B.P looks like our daily postmen.
Ofcourse there is corruption in Indian Police force, we all feel much better talking to police force abroad.

| A CP police was killed by a group of four constables when he tried to stop them from eve teasing a girl on a bike. Poor him.. tried to be heroic but died. Then the constables' family blame the poor dead guy for putting them in jail. |

| THIS JUST SHOWS THE GAP THAT IS SO PREVALENT IN INDIAN SOCIETY. THE CONSTABLES ARE SEMI-LITERATES OR EVEN ILLITERATES: JOB HAND OUTS AT ELECTION TIME. WHEREAS SERGEANTS ARE RECRUITED ON THE BASIS OF THE ABILITIES AND FORMALLY TRAINED.
BAPI SEN WAS 1 OF KIND. HIS ACCOMPANYING FRIENDS DID NOT LIFT A FINGER TO HELP HIM FIGHT THOSE GOONS. THE SAME THING HAPPENED AT THE USIS SHOOTOUT. THE OFFICER CHOSED TO WALK THERE IN ORDER TO POCKET THE TAXI FARE ALLOWANCE. HE DUCKED INTO THE FIRST STAIRWELL WHEN HE HEARD GUNSHOTS. HE DID NOT WANT TO RUN TO THE SCENE TO INVESTIGATE. THAT TIME AT LEAST 2 CONSTABLES DIED. |

| i do admire the courage of Bapi Sen. remember he was off duty, trying to protect the modesty of an unknown (and ungrateful?) woman.
hats off to him.
one of my friends is a traffic sergeant and he told me that sergeants are recruited taking their heights into account. i guess that explains why we have those burly guys patrolling the mean streets of calcutta and striking fear into the motorists.
delhi police are not bad too...when those terrorists attacked Parliament House, they fought back bravely with those obsolete and almost extinct .303 rifles and sten guns. television footage showed them firing with vengeance..now that's the attitude! |

| Yes Calcutta Police Sergent is fearful and handsome. S'pore Indian cops are hefty too, unlike it's chinese compatriat.
Yes most cops are recruited based on height. Reason you hardly find any chinese cops in the states.
Infact some of my Indian friends here tells me that Bengalis are very much respected, they are the gentlemen of India.
No wonder most Calcuttans like to poke their nose in a road-accident like they are helping out. |
