What is the easiest way to get a visa?
Earlier we could join some language institute and no attend the class, just pay the fees, and find a job and enjoy life.
Just go to the institute and approach the counter and say "I want to get a visa" instead of "I want to enroll for the course".
The institute knows very well that many philipinos get enrolled to work illegally.
But I heard rules have been toughened. Is there any loopholes still left?

Why go thru all this trouble ? Hook a local, get married and stay with full peace of mind.. That's the only way now I believe. Fifteen years ago when I came it was so easy changing over with a tourist visa for attending Double Ten Ceremony..

| Well, if you are still young, you wouldn't want to get married.
And many of us dont want a long term plan in Taiwan. Most came to enjoy the life, the girls and then probably go to Canada later for settlement.
All we need is a temporary visa and a job and a free weekend.
Shih-Ta is expensive at 8K/month and attendance of classes is a must.

Why not go to a place you would like to be your ultimate goal and start earlier.. Wouldn't it be better if you get a earlier head start in a place you wanna settle down. If I could turn back the clock, I wish I could have started what I am doing now five or six years earlier than when I started. Today I would have been way, way ahead becos as time passes you get to know that it becomes tougher and tougher.. Have you heard of the proverb " A rolling stone gathers no moss " ? You will find it to be true as you grow older

Many people first come to Taiwan to check out life abroad, it is easier to come here as a student, visa to Canada isn't that easy to come by.
And then they find life in Taiwan very fun, the parties, etc. And they want to loafer around for one or two more years before thinking of going to Canada for permanenence, life is to be enjoyed.

ever consider higher education in PRC, insteand of taiwan? (that is if you are unable to obtain visa for Taiwan)
The Chinese Visa for the PRC are easy and cheap to obtain for all overseas born Chinese, cities like Beijing,Shainghai and shenzhen are just as good as Taiwan with lower cost of living standards comparing to Taiwan. everything is cheap in China even when one is earning about 5000RMB is far better off then one in Taiwan with an earning of 30000NT$ with expensive cost of living.
it is surprising to see there are over 30,000 westerners living and working permanently in Beijing, majority of them are Americans who are not necessarily with high paid salaries. but they are just there waiting for opportunities and at the same time they just love to learn everything Chinese and it customs and all, and with the 2008 olympic approaching the capital city is booming, so that translate to lots of opportunities, there are many rich and well to do citizens in China these days,
and you can get Chinese green card too;

on the other hand Australian and Canadian students visa are not at all very hard to apply in my opinion, you just have to know the know-how and with only about 15,000 US$ for first year of tuitions. you are all set and easy to earn back working illegally somehow. sure; sorry if i sounded too easy, this's the way and the loopholes at your finger-tip, |

| Yes, Beijing and Shanghai is way better than Taipei/Taiwan. But also their cost of living is also much higher than Taiwan's. They're not lower as you mentioned.

| Well, this is what i call information.
Let me share mine.
Yes, there are oppurtunities in Shanghai, the salary for a local engineer isnt' much, but it spirals up when you got a foreign degree. My friend tells me expect to earn around 4K Ntd in Shanghai as a entry-level engineer. 4K for the standard of living in China is a LOT.
Cliff, the facts that you gave is based on the city-center, it is a lot cheaper living in the suburbs.
I had the oppurtunity to apply for a job in Beijing but I prefer a western life when I am still young, yes I might consider China when I am older and married. You need to be close to the place where you want to eye and business venture. [;)] |
