In my opinion it is not weird.. The daughter's womb has some defects and cannot conceive, so the mother just "lent" her womb to her to incubate the baby for nine months.. Nothing wierd in that.. Infact, it should be viewed as a progress in science.. When you can allow your mother to hold your baby in her arms AFTER it is born and allow her to help you feed him when you are busy at the office, what's wrong in letting her help you incubate it for you when you know that you are unable to do it yourself ? It is just BORROWING her "functional" womb.. Because if they don't do that there is no way to keep their family going on. Furthermore, the sperm and ova is the husband's and the daughter's.. It has no conection with the grandmother whatsoever..
It is same like "cloning" cows or embryo transfer.. Just borrowing a womb. The cloned calf has no blood connection with the surrogate mother. The surrogate mother's womb was just borrowed to incubate it.

| There're many things weird about this case. One is that Britain won't let the mother bring her children back home. They only gave them a one year visitors' visa. [8-|]
Talk about a brave new world! The law says the mother is the one who gives birth, not the one who donated the egg and whose husband donated the sperm. Who'd ever have imagined these two could be different individuals? [:p]
And don't you think it'll be confusing for the children? Their mother is their sister. [:p] And they're each others' aunts. And their grandpa is their uncle... [8-}] [8-}] [8-}] |

Yeah, in THIS PARTICULAR case it is weird just like how you mentioned as the mother being their sister and they are each others aunts.. But BIOLOGICALLY there is no difference as the sperm and egg has nothing to do with their grandmothers.. But if they used another female's womb from OUTSIDE their family it would not be so weird.. And of course, they would be signing a contract and paying a specific fee to that surrogate mother, so that in future she cannot claim that " the one who gives birth is the mother".
Just recently, in Taiwan there were many young, talented and beautiful college girls selling their eggs to couples who couldn't bear children for $100,000 each !! A good way to earn money !
But look at it from a scientiic point of view.. Wouldn't you like your child to have the brains of Einstien and the looks of Cindy Crawford ? Take Einstiens sperm and Cindy Crawford's egg, fertilize them outside and put them into your wife's womb. imagine what will come out ! And, now they can even diagonize the sex of the child before implanting it into the surrogate mother. |

Exactly, this particular case is TOOOO weird. [:-?][:-?][:-?] There should be a law banning parents from carrying their daughters' babies. [>:P] It's so... incestuous. [V][V][V] |
