Cooks working in western countries get paid as much as a programmer in India does when converted.

I've spoken to lots of businessmen and the verdict is unaminous: roads and shopping malls may be visible improvements, but the "boom" is hollow. IT and outsourcing cannot by themselves sustain the growth. Everyone's complaining of falling sales and extreme price-cutting. These people are sitting idle in their shops and factories, doing 1/10 of the business they used to get in 1994.
I'm not saying you should emigrate from India, but if you're thinking that life is easier here and that there is an "economic boom," both premises are false. |
