(Edit: (11/6) Okay, so the Global Chat Network's a bust, at least until everyone can install it. I can't understand... we're all using WinXP, and yet...
So can anyone suggest something free to replace Yahoo? What happened to Talkcity?)
Let's take a look at the Global Chat Network. It has voice and video, and compared to Yahoo, it has less intrusive ads, fewer chatters, and smaller download size. Download it from http://www.gcn.cx
After installation, register a name for yourself on the network and add "Chinagate" to your list of favourite rooms. It's pretty simple and intuitive. I see Steffi's been kind enough to register the room. 
The big problem is of course, if you can't connect from a campus network. But no need to cross bridges unless we discover there's a river, so just download, register... and see all you lovely Beta-testers at 10 IST!

is this in anyway related to us???
can we change it to something else???
if i am not wrong this name was taken up by those operators during that time when talkcity chatroom was popular and somehow the room #tangra was banned. No idea how they came up with this name. [:-?] |

Enter you username, and hit 'connect'....
And let us know if it connected.
And then use this flash-client to connect toooo. And type /join #chinagate

We are just testing it INCASE we need for a change.
When most of you decide to change, we will change.
but now most of you voted 'no'
IrcQ.net is just another IRC network like what steffi suggested chatshack.net
Which means we can connect through this java client, or the ICQ flash client, or ICQ4, or Mirch or Pirch.
How many really care for voice ?

| IRC is time-tested and should be our ideal choice for chat.
But a couple of Taiwan Universities firewall are restricting IRC connection, have to think of another way.
A concept is called BNC-proxy, http://www.ircadmin.net/bnc/windows.php , have a look ! |
