i guess da rae report by h'able ex premier bob rae affects most of us students. it recommends to deregulate tuition fees let market forces n uni charge their own fees. but it also tries to fund in 2.1B $ for the needy students and make OSAP rules less stringent so more middle class family can be covered. premier mcguinty has already gone on record to try n push thru much of da recommendations by this yr budget during mar/april. just to see which recommendations r accepted.shud public instituitions like university be allowed to act as a pvt enterprise? so only da rich goes to uni. ontario is currently charging da second highest tuition in Ca, it will be da highest if tuition is hiked. ON is da engine of Ca and has the most underfunded education system below national average. public colleges in USA has better infrastructure  most students r gonna grad wit huge mortgage like debts....$20K - $40K!!! but any tuition hike is only after its enshrined in da constitution that students shall not drop out of finances reason...free tuition for da needy and more help for "first generation ontarians" (which btw is most of us) to go to uni!!OR students currently pay 25% of their tuition rest being subsidized by da govt. since uni r da center of excellence where many papers n research work is done. can it afford to underfund these works?? where in next few yrs...7 out of 10 jobs will require a post secondary edu. can da uni deliver quality edu wit its creaking infrastructure? where students to prof ratio is so high that student might grad witout knowing da prof?? looks like a balanced report but as per my views.... my skool uoft has a logo...meeting place of gr8 minds. and its sutdent union ran a campaign "Great mind wit Great debts"...it sums it best! ur views? |

| they already had a rally in UOT. U're in ur own world. So many universities joined it even Ryerson. YOu should have joined the rally hehehe.. |

| rae report is on www.raereview.on.ca and if u want ur voice to be heard....n i gues u guys shud do soemthing abt it considering most of r students n have a stake in it...u call ur local MPP or visit www.thinkontario.com dalton mcguinty has indicated he will accomodate rae recommendation in his budget due march..... |
